WELCOME TO BATTLE CREEK, MI, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS "CEREAL CITY USA!"

In the early 1800s, there occurred a skirmish between two Native Americans and a federal land survey party. The clash happened near a stream and that stream came to be known as Battle Creek. From there, the entire area became known as Battle Creek.

Battle Creek is also a historic town with many homes having been part of the Underground Railroad during the Civil War. One of the most recognizable figures of the Civil War, Soujourner Truth, passed away in Battle Creek and in her memory is a statue dedicated to her accomplishments. There are many homes, museums, and statues around Battle Creek that are dedicated to preserving the memory of the Underground Railroad and Civil War that provide great insight to American history.
